The sharpest lens in its price range

Posted by William Gonzales on 25th Jun 2024

When I bought this it was an exchange for the 50mm Sony 1.8f. I lived that lens but with a a6400 the 50mm was hard to get shots and had to step back considerably. The 30mm on the sigma is absolutely perfect for me. The pictures and 4k videos turn out incredibly sharp and good looking with fabulous bokeh. This is easily the best standard lens in its class and if you were on the fence like I was, get this lens you will not regret it.

Outstanding lens for the price, very light and portable. Pairs well with a camera that has image stabilization built in. Awesome fast lens that produces some really sharp shots.

Bokeh on this is amazing. Aperture is the selling point on this prime lens and it does t disappoint. Great quality for the price.

A must have E Mount for APSC

Posted by Jacob Lawrence on 12th Jun 2024

Earlier copies of this lens have been faulted for having slightly slow focus, Simga seems to have completely worked out these issues. The lens focuses extremely fast for both photography and video applications. Of course the lens is exceptionally sharp, even wide open. I had some reservations about the focal length of 30mm which is equivalent to 45mm on a Sony full frame camera, which is quite close to 50mm. It's difficult to explain, but I find the focal length very versatile, perhaps even slightly more than a standard 50mm on a full frame camera.

    Sharp and value priced

This lens is very sharp and takes great pictures (when paired with the right photographer). The Sony A6x00 series cameras make great use of this lens to focus quickly with minimal barrel distortion. This is a 45mm Prime equivalent when paired with the APSc sensor. It's a bit longer than the kit lens, but nicer in all other respects. Due to the 24M sensor on the A6000, it can be used in nearly every situation as you can crop 50% of the image and still get a nice, detailed image for an 8x10 print. It has a 52mm filter thread, a little larger than the kit lenses, but comparable to many 35mm lenses you may have sitting around. At 1.4, it's still fast, but focusing is a bit less accurate. 2.0 will give you nice background blur while still being easy to use without manual focus. The metal and plastic body look like it's made to last. I hope to be enjoying this lens for years to come.
