    Overpriced but good

Posted by Natasha Cooper on 17th May 2024

There is no secret that this product is overpriced but I will still give it 5 stars because if you can overlook the price tag you will not be disappointed in performance. Coming from the 3080 I was able to see average 35 to 45 fps increase in most AAA games. It run cooler and uses less power too. The frame generation has gotten a lot better since launch and I find myself using it for more and more games. Anyone coming from 20s or less should really consider the upgrade to the 40s.

    Great 1440p card.

Posted by David Hall on 12th May 2024

I really like this card. It performs great and is very good on power consumption. The reference design is so clean looking and compact. It feels real solid and doesn't sag. My favorite games are Forza and Cyberpunk and I cand run them with all the eye candy turned up and got well over 60fps on a 2k monitor. I replaced my 3070 with this card because because V-ram was becoming an issue. I would recommend this card.

    The Sweet Spot

Posted by Brittany Choi on 1st May 2024

The few observations I have made from upgrading to a 4070 FE from a 3070 XC3 Ultra(one of the smallest 3070 cards for the generation), in two of my less demanding games, I have seen roughly a 37% decrease in power draw (160 watts down to 100 watts). Additionally, in Cyberpunk 2077 running at 3840x1600 I have gone from 36FPS with RT Ultra + DLSS 2.0 on the 3070 to 90FPS with RT Ultra + DLSS 3.0 + Frame Generation on the 4070, all while using about 30% less power (270 watts down to 186 watts). AV1 encoding in DaVinci Resolve has been a plus as well. If you are looking for an upgrade and have $600 to spend, this is a solid option.

    All-around good performer

Posted by Kristen Shaw on 1st May 2024

Excellent performance, reasonable size (especially if you’re doing an ITX build), good thermals, and quiet operation! Used in a Fractal North build and works great! With the 4070 Super out, less reason to purchase this, but still a good performer if you can find it for a discount.

Don’t listen to the amd fanboys. This card slaps

Posted by Teresa Taylor on 29th Apr 2024

Absolutely beast of a graphics card, perfect for 1440p gaming at high fps. Even with the dual fans it stays around 60 Celsius under heavy load with my setup. It comes with the Nvidia power adaptor splitter but I recommend having a psu that’s atx 3.0 ready, with the dedicated connector. Highly recommend this card for those looking for entry level 1440p and maybe 4K gaming.

    This thing is very impressive.

Posted by Brian Warner Jr. on 25th Apr 2024

This 4070 seriously impressed me. I know it’s $599 but if you consider how much used 3080 is going for, since the 4070 is the 3080 equivalent, I think it’s a no brainer. I have a 4080 in one of my PC’s and it’s massive, but when I saw how small the 4070 Founders Edition was and how it performed… I was literally shocked. It’s the same size as a 3060 Ti but wipes the floor with the 3060 Ti. It’s crazy. And it consumes up to 200w while being as powerful as a 320 watt GPU. That’s extremely impressive. Also, with AV1 encoding, using OBS is going to be so much better. The unboxing was an awesome experience too. Best unboxing I’ve ever seen. I was so blown away for many different reasons. In the first photo, there is a 3080 Ti and a GTX 1650 next to the 4070 for size comparison, and in the last picture the 4070 is next to a 4080 for size comparison. This thing is awesome.

The RTX 4070 is the mid range champ!

Posted by Chad Salas on 23rd Apr 2024

First off, the price is, what the price is. If it's not a good value for you personally then I don't blame you for not getting one. That aside, this thing is a monster. I don't have a 4k monitor so I haven't benchmarked it in that resolution but in 1440p this thing is amazing. I paired it with a 13600k on a b660m with 32gb ddr4 and I get triple digit fps in almost everything. There are some outliers like CP2077, but that thing is also hard to run on my 4080. Turn DLSS quality on with frame generation and you are over 100 fps. I've also used it to stream and record videos, and encode with Premiere Pro and it's fantastic.

Nivida best value card of this generation.

Posted by Michael Patton on 5th Apr 2024

Purchased as an upgrade to my Asus TUF 3080. I researched options quite extensively and purchased the Nvidia founders edition because it’s faster than my 3080, but uses less power, runs cooler, quieter, and shorter. I am disappointed in the cutdown memory bandwidth, and having only 12 GB of memory, However I believe DLSS makes up for those shortcomings. My primary use is with Microsoft flight simulator and it’s worked very well for me at 1440 resolution. I purchased from Best Buy because I felt their return policy would accommodate me if I didn’t care for the performance of the card.

    Best card this generation

Posted by Holly Reyes on 1st Apr 2024

You get the right balance of raw performance, features, and VRAM. It's a 3080 10GB with +2GB, $100 less MSRP than that card, better features (DLSS3, AV1), and far lower power use and heat. The 4070 with DLSS3 enabled matches the 4080 without DLSS3. 3080 raw performance, and 4080 performance with DLSS. Not worth $600 after years of pandemic pricing? I say it's the best card this generation unless money is no object and you get the 4090. If you're on anything older than the 30-series, all the cockamamie reasons online why you shouldn't buy this GPU don't apply.
