    Good portable work device

Posted by Lori Miller on 26th May 2024

I have purchased many of these for business use and have not had an issue with any of them. Price seems a bit high for the hardware but there isn't a lot of computers in this category so Microsoft kind of gets to set the price. The keyboard attachment is a must have so I really feel like it should be included with the computer, especially with the price. The price of the keyboard alone seems quite high. My only issue with the device itself is the back where the kick stand is scratches super easy

    Would definitely recommend.

Good price. Loaded computer without the things you don't want. Nice having the option to turn down the free virus protection before it's loaded. Very light as a tablet and adding the keyboard makes for a great laptop. Love the screen size.

Great for work and personal use!

Posted by Angel Villa on 15th May 2024

I love this machine! This past Christmas I had purchased the I-Pad Pro 12.9" for my bride. I was very impressed and thought about going that direction for my purchase, however due to my business activities and all of my current files being windows based, I made the surface purchase. the portability is awesome, the keyboard I purchased works great as protection for the screen and is super comfortable. During the day this is docked with my other screens and when I'm traveling its great to have the functionality of a tablet. I would definitely recommend. I will say I researched the Surface ProX as well and due to the software compatibility issues they are having with that platform, the Pro 7 for me seemed like a much better choice.

It’s great, but not a noticeable upgrade

Posted by Theresa Peterson on 9th May 2024

I’m replacing my surface pro which is about 3.5 years and was starting to have problems. I use my computers very hard, so I got the estimated life out of my last one, but was hoping this one would feel more like a significant upgrade. It certainly is an upgrade, but nothing I would consider significant. I’m not trying to detract from Surfaces, because they are absolutely awesome, it’s just I didn’t feel this was a huge upgrade over my previous one. My business allows me a work budget to purchase any computer I want, and I consistently get these surfaces. I have a book 3, a laptop 3, and this Surface 7. I use all of them in some specific capacity or another - my Book is constantly docked and runs like a desktop at my office, my laptop usually sits by my bed for emails and going over work material, and my Pro is used for travel and doing trainings. I love that all of my devices share the same cords, and also the information is backed up between them through OneDrive. While there are more powerful computers out there, the Surface line is ideal for business.

This computer has proved a great deal during this country and world wide lock down. It's fast and you can add a docking to add multiple monitors. Is light and has the flexibility of using around your home.

Made the leap from Mac to Windows

Posted by Mary Ball on 6th May 2024

Five years ago I had a PC and said I would NEVER get an apple device. Then my PC broke and I had a good reason to try out a Macbook Pro. What a beautiful computer! Fast, sleek, and powerful everything I needed. Then just three weeks ago I decided it was time to upgrade and I awaited the good news from Apple about their new Macbooks. But the news never came, and the reviews on their current Mac's were mixed (the keyboard issue made me nervous). So I thought maybe it was time to experiment with Microsoft. The Surface Pro was a unique design, also sleek and had some attractive hardware so I went with the Pro 7 i5. I gave it a run for its money for two weeks doing all of my typical task at work (word, excel, powerpoint) as well as some of my hobbies (adobe photoshop and premiere pro). The Pro 7 handled them all like a beast. I ended up returning the i5 and getting the i7 because I liked the Pro 7 so much that I wanted to ensure I got a good 3+ yrs out of it. Haven't looked back yet. Like any device it has its Pro's an Con's and one device will never please everyone but here are some of my Pro's and Con's: PRO's - Beautiful design and great 2 in 1 device that functions extremely well as both tablet and PC - USB - C and Microsoft's charging cable = extremely fast charging - The premium keyboard is easy to type on and looks great - Stylus is a huge bonus, something I never had with a Mac - Touchscreen is great, useful in almost every situation - Stunning 4k Video - The i7 chip and 16RAM have been able to handle everything I have thrown at it, including a 30+FPS rate on Skyrim - The instant on and Hello Camera are incredible. Cheers to Microsoft for that feature CONs - Battery life just isnt were it should be. I get MAYBE 10hrs out of it with using max battery settings and not using any demanding software - Not being able to iMessage (a big change for a Mac user for 5+yrs) - The i7 does have a fan in it which can be annoying but even at maximum torque the fan is not TO loud and the only time it has been needed thus far for myself is with Skyrim. Has never turned on in my day-day work.

Froze 3x & Holding Power Off for 1 Minute Worked

Posted by Hayden Massey on 24th Apr 2024

Note, I just got this laptop delivered September 18, 2020. So, I have a Surface Pro 6 that I dropped and also an item from a shelf above fall right on top of it while open resulting in many spider cracks. This was June 2020, so while it still works flawlessly, all these months later, it began getting hot, very hot. And the camera, while still works for Zoom, no longer recognizes me at sign on. Afraid of losing data, I splurged on a Excellent Pre-Owned Surface Pro. Don't know who had this but it was literally spotless and perfect. Better than my Surface 6, also bought pre-owned. I went from i5 to i7 and the speed is unparalleled. Truly. Anyone who says they can't tell any different is crazy. Colors are brighter all programs work at a much higher speed. Windows 10 is just popping, as are the latest Power Point and Word. Just a year later from my first Surface Pro 6. BUT -- 3x now, this laptop just froze. First time was while using my pen to annotate a slide in a Zoom meeting. The entire display froze and would not respond to ANY input. Not even Ctrl/Alt/Del which ALWAYS works. I had to press and hold power for 30 seconds to a minute, or longer. The thing just would not respond. The next time I was just playing games (Zoom may have been open, don't recall) and same thing, no matter what I pushed or tried, no response. 3rd time was today during a Zoom training. Granted I usually have 84 windows open, but I don't know whether had clicked a few items quickly or what but POOF! Locked up. Had to power off to get it to reboot. This is very concerning considering the laptop is not even a MONTH old in my care. And there is no registered owner before me, as was the case on my Surface Pro 6. That previous owner got the SP6 in May 2019, then I got it in August 2019, but the warranty needed a reset to match my purchase date. No such issue with this purchase though. All drivers are up to date and any scheduled updates have gone through. But now that I am past my 14 day window to return to Best Buy, am concerned the freezing will continue or worsen without a clear solution from Microsoft. Other than that, these things are flawless. But for perhaps the power cords. My SP6 lasted 3 months. And by comparison, when my iPad was dropped it was toast. And that was in the house, on carpet. The SP6 dropped onto pavers outside and still held up better and worked for perfectly the past 6 months before it began running hot. I hope I can sort this out. If so, I will update the review, b/c other than freezing and not responding to any buttons pushed for over a minute, it has been flawless and made me a better employee for my job.

    Surface Pro 7

Posted by Shawn Contreras on 22nd Apr 2024

Ordered online, had the surface shipped to my house. Service was excellent! It arrived 2 days early, Good updates from Best Buy as to order status. The Surface Pro 7 (second surface pro for me) works as advertised. I teach online classes and use it for work. Added an after market hub for a large monitor for long work sessions, and the extra ports for my external Hard Drive, mouse, keyboard and some items are blue tooth and that saves on needing an extra port. Got a good deal on the Surface Pro, My son is getting one as well. Highly recommended.
