    Over all a good purchase.

Posted by Cathy Maldonado on 14th Jun 2024

These drives are quite a bit louder than the 12TB model but are performing well so far. The noise it not a huge deal to me since I have them running in my home office closet connected to my home server. I bought 4 of them and did a full test and format on all four without any errors reported.

Another good western digital hard drive

Posted by Tara Miller on 12th Jun 2024

I liked my Western digital 14TB Easystore so much that I ended up purchasing the 16TB version as well. Usable space after formatting with NTFS was 12.5TB. This 16TB drive runs slightly faster on average then my 14TB version according to CrystalDiskMark. It was on sale when I purchased it on 4/2021 at $267. As of 6/2021 it is on sale at $450. So glad I purchased it when I did.

    External hard drives

Much needed external hard drive. As I have so many picture, videos and files of clients this was a great buy. This free up my PC storage and it was basically a plug and play. Might consider another one for my siblings. Would help them alot. No problem so far. Recommend to anyone get whe. They put it on sales...

    Great but LOUD

Posted by Sara Bradley on 18th May 2024

The speed is great, as is the capacity--especially when you factor in the price of $223 I paid plus lots of points toward certificates. BUT...like others stated in their reviews: there is a clicking/clunking sound frequently coming from inside the case that gets annoying if you leave this plugged in continuously and keep the unit close by.

    Huge boi

Posted by Jonathon Reed on 14th May 2024

So far it is working great as a USB drive. Transfer and write speeds have not disappointed. It can be slightly noisy, but I don't mind it too much. I will probably end up shucking it and throwing the drive in my PC, which will hopefully muffle it's sound some.

    Excellent HD In Hiding

Posted by Joshua Lynch on 12th May 2024

This drive is fast - very fast - for an external supposedly 5400 RPM hard drive. So that led me to dig into the drive a bit and do some research. WD doesn't really post a lot of info on the actual drive hiding inside these external enclosures, but from what I can see on at least the higher storage count drives 14TB-18TB, these are Ultrastar DC HC550 drives. That means they are in fact 7200 RPM helium-filled with a 512 MB cache and a 2.5 million hour MTBF - and used in data centers so they can take more punishment than your standard cheap every day run-of-the-mill hard drive. All of my drives go through an extended read/write torture test before they are put to use, which this drive passed at a maximum temperature of 50 C. It is doing its job backing up family photos and videos.

BIG WD Easystore 16TB External USB 3.0 Hard Drive

Posted by Michelle Powell on 11th May 2024

This ext hard drive has been great as I'm able to store on it a lot of MP4 videos, WAV & MP3 audio files that I work with for my marketing and sales job. Otherwise my 2 GB SSD would have filled up a long time ago. It does need some time (3-4 seconds) to 'spin up' if you haven't accessed it in a while. And it does make some soft 'sounds' at points in the day but nothing distracting or loud enough that ambient office noise doesn't drown out. Would buy another one again as this fills up! 3TB used so far w/ 12 TB left.
