Product Description

Model number : AFA071S700
The Tamron 28-200mm F/2.8-5.6 (Model AFA071S-700) is the world's first all-in-one zoom to achieve a maximum aperture of F2.8 at the 28mm wide-angle end. Despite covering a wide range of focal lengths, the lens is lightweight and compact, making it convenient to bring along for all your picture taking needs. When combined with a compact, lightweight full-frame/APS-C mirrorless camera, it allows photographers to capture virtually every scene they encounter in daily use, travel, sports and nature. Tamron did not compromise on optical performance. The use of special lens elements-including LD (Low Dispersion) and XLD (eXtra Low Dispersion)- help suppress chromatic aberrations, making it possible to achieve high image quality from edge to edge. With a MOD (Minimum Object Distance) of 0.19m (7.5 in) at the wide end and 0.8m (31.5 in) at the telephoto end, the lens also offers high-level close-up shooting performance. The AF drive system is powered by the RXD (Rapid eXtra-silent stepping Drive) stepping motor unit to deliver high-speed, high-precision performance. The lens also features Moisture-Resistant Construction and Fluorine Coating for added protection.

    Goo performance for the price

Light enough to handhold most point and shoot of landscape situations. Image quality for the price is good enough for me.

    The Multi-tool

Posted by Megan Reid on 15th Jun 2024

This has been an extremely versatile all-in-one lens for me as a humble beginner. The 28-200 range is very nice as you don't feel like your missing shots that you might want some extra reach. Using it with the crop sensor also helps extend and pictures remain sharp. Widening up to 28mm you get that 2.8 but as you zoom you're quickly at f3 and 4 which is fine because images remain sharp. It's a little over a pound feels solid in construction and it's proven to be a reliable lens. I'm really impressed with this Tamron lens and the only thing I yearn for is some really good built-in image stabilization. At the price though A+

    Great lens…only one issue

Posted by Candice Wise on 4th Jun 2024

Compactness , 2.8 , 200mm are the main selling points here. I really do like this lens. I’ve just had some issues with autofocus on an older sony body (7r3). I updated the fw with a supposed fix for some autofocus issues but still having ~30% missing in faster/tracking situations. May just be a sony body limitation for non first party lenses, my 85 does not have these issues. Hoping another update may fix the issue.

This is truly an all-in-one lens! With the range of 28-200mm and a still allowing for extra sharpness with the F2.8 aperture, I am very pleased with my purchase and this Tamron product!

    Great lens for the money

Posted by Kevin Smith on 30th May 2024

This lens is by no means perfect, but for what it is, it is a good choice. Price point and overall ability is strong with this lens. The F 2.8 goes away quick but overall sharpness is well above good enough for an enthusiasts photographer. If you are a pro, get something better but you already knew that. Once I am done resizing the demo photos I will get them up. I like the overall clarity and sharpness throughout all rangers. It travels well and the lock is extremely useful for me. If I had the funds, I would have gotten either the 24-70 GM or the similar Sigma.

    Amazing lens

This is a very versatile lens and takes very sharp pictures. The AF works very quickly just like it should. It is a little heavier than I thought it would be.

    Great for concerts!

Posted by Kristi Lawson on 19th May 2024

As a concert photographer, this lens does everything I need it to do in the pit ans takes away the hassle of switching lenses. Takes a great range of close-up portraits to wide shots. Just wish the range began at 18mmm.

    Fabulous Lens!

Posted by Mr. David Thompson DVM on 9th May 2024

I absolutely love this lens! It's the best lens for the price. I used the kit lens (28-70mm) that came with my Sony A7iii. Since getting this lens, I haven't switched back. I watched many YouTube videos and read many articles before purchasing it. All of them gave this lens a super high rating! This is also a great travel lens! From Aug-Sept 2023. I went to Michigan, Ohio, and Chicago. I only brought this lens. I walked a lot while in Chi and had my camera with me about 98% of the time. Because of how light the lens is, I forgot I had the camera a couple of times, haha. Pros: There are a lot of pros, but my main ones are that it's super lightweight and the little lock button. Cons: Most of the time, I have the camera on a strap and as I'm heading to my destination, it's hanging down. Sometimes, the lens will extend, maybe because it's rubbing against something on me. But I've never had that issue with the kit lens. Other than that one con, it's a fantastic lens for the price.
