Not great if you have sensitive teeth

Posted by Brett Jackson on 21st Jun 2024

I will start this review by saying that I have very sensitive gums as well as cold and hot sensitivity on my teeth. So, this review is mainly for people who may be suffering from these same symptoms and what they can expect from this device. Out of the box you can tell it is a very quality product, I would expect nothing less from Sonicare. The build quality is great, using very thick plastics to give it a solid feel in your hand. The controls are also very easy to operate, and as always, Sonicare uses very minimal controls to make it easy for everyone to use. Its very easy to pop on the desired tip (it comes with 2 different ones included) and its also very easy to refill the bottle. You can either unscrew the top or there is also a little latch on the bottle that you can open and refill it without taking the top off. Here comes the first problems I had with the device. I wish there was some kind of lock feature so that even if you press the power button the unit won’t turn on. Often times when I was filling it, I would accidentally hit the power on button and it would start spraying water all over the place. You have to be very careful when handling or unscrewing the top or this will happen. Once I got that figured out there really is only one other control and that’s to set the pressure, I guess you’d call it. There are 3 different levels that you push one button for and it cycles through them. The level is indicated by 1, 2, or 3 lights. As stated, before I have sensitive teeth with cold/hot sensitivity. I also have a hard time flossing the regular way because my gums bleed very easily. That’s why I thought this would be a great alternative to traditional flossing. I found it very hard to get a water temperature that didn’t bother my teeth. Either too cold, or too hot and it was very hard to get it just right. Once I was able to get the right temperature, I found that the device worked well at getting things out from around my gums and in between my teeth. If you have sensitive spots on your teeth, be prepared to experience a little pain though when you spray them. I had to use the lowest setting, because at the higher ones it was a little painful to use. One other thing to be aware of is that this thing is continually spraying water in your mouth for a minute so you have to simultaneously spit out the water while using the device. It does pulse every 15 seconds to let you know to switch to a different quadrant of your mouth. I think it would have been better to have it go for 15 seconds then stop to allow you to spit out the water, then push the start button again to continue to the next quadrant. That way all that water wouldn’t be building up in your mouth. So, just be prepared that its going to make a mess when you are using it and you’ll have to be bent over the sink to avoid getting water everywhere. You pretty much get 1 use out of 1 tank full of water so you’ll have to fill it each time you want to use it. The device itself is also pretty large and won’t fit in most cabinets or drawers easily. So be prepared to have it sitting out on your countertop. With the spray head on, it is 12 inches tall. Overall, it’s a great concept and is very effective at spraying things out from in between your teeth and around your gums. I wouldn’t recommend it if you have a lot of sensitivity though. If you can deal with a little water splashing around it would be a great option for you.

    Great for good dental hygiene

Posted by Jacqueline Rodriguez on 17th Jun 2024

Flossing is an important part of good oral hygiene. It helps to remove plaque and bacteria from between your teeth. Flossing can also help to keep your gums healthy. Unfortunately, I've always been terrible about this dental hygiene task. Brushing has never been a problem. I just can't get in the habit of adding in flossing. My dentist recommended that I try to use a water flosser so this cordless power flosser from Sonicare seemed like a good option for me. The assembly of the flosser was minimal. The main body was already put together and all I had to do was add the nozzle that I wanted to use, charge it, and fill the reservoir with water. The flosser had some charge out of the box, but I did plug it in for a little while before using it for the first time. The flosser comes with an illustrated quick start guide which was really helpful to me as I tried to figure out the best placement for the nozzles on my teeth. I filled the reservoir with water and hit on the button. Water shot out and I felt that it cleaned between my teeth pretty well. I'm not sure if it did as good of a job as standard floss, but it was definitely better than not doing anything at all. The flosser is easy to use but I wish it had a little more power behind it.

Powerful & Investment in Oral Hygiene Product!

Posted by Erin Stewart on 15th Jun 2024

This flosser is LEGIT! Really have been for a while and was curious; and received a Gift Card and so I purchased this. I assumed I would need the Strongest setting b/c - well, you know, I’m a tough guy and can handle it. This is the part when I explain I use the Lowest setting now. This thing is very powerful. I am Very Impressed and very glad I purchased this. Highly recommended!! Obviously this doesn’t replace my/one’s Dentist and this is not the same thing as a dental cleaning - But I feel like I have had a cleaning at the dentist’s office. LOL

    Great Flosser

Posted by Ashley Hernandez on 11th Jun 2024

I bought this flosser to upgrade from our previous one, which had faithfully served us for nearly a decade. While the old one was still functional, we were intrigued by the rave reviews of this model. We've found that this flosser surpasses our expectations, particularly in its ability to thoroughly remove food particles between teeth, leaving a refreshing cleanliness. The battery life is exceptional, lasting several days between charges, and its user-friendliness is commendable. I wholeheartedly endorse this flosser for anyone seeking an effective oral hygiene solution.

    Great Choice!

Very cool product in all. Packaging was typical Phillips. Nothing fancy but certainly efficient and effective. Inside the box you'll find the main body, 2 floss heads, USB charge cable and USB wall outlet. Pretty simple. Set-up was... Well, simple as well. Plug it in, pop the floss head on and you're done. So I set it up, ran to the store for a few items and by the time I came back, it was fully charged. Maybe 20 minutes. I filled the cavity up with water and gave it a try. Worked very well. I have not flossed in... Well, so long I don't remember when. Flossing always creeped me out, not sure why. That said, this device is able to get between teeth without that strange (well, strange to me) floss feeling. Was done in probably about a minute and felt great. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5, is that it stops for about a second between cycles (4 cycles per session). I wish the "between" cycle was more like 5 or so seconds to allow for time to spit out the water in your mouth. End of the day, probably more of an opportunity for me to learn proper floss technique, but that is my only complaint. In closing, I highly recommend this device, especially for those of us who are "creeped out" by traditional flossing. I can see this as easily being a part of my daily routine. And I'm pretty sure my dentist will be proud of my new found floss routine. Solid choice!

    Good Choice

Really nice product. Tank Capacity is adequate. Battery life impressive. Multiple settings and interchangeable tips are great. Recommend using in the shower since it can be a bit messy at the sink Hoping my Hygenist notices a difference!

    Clean teeth and gums!

Posted by Timothy Barker on 26th May 2024

Great power flosser. Its very easy to setup and they include to heads. One is the regular one that shoots a one stream of water, and the other one is the one that shoots 4 streams of water and has soft rubber head. You just insert the head you want to use and then fill up the reservoir. Then make sure the battery is charged and then you can choose between 3 levels of power and two modes of cleaning (one is a regular stream, the other one is a deep cleaning that shoots pulsating streams of water). They recommend to start ant the minimum and go up from there, depending on how sensitive your gums are. I liked the quad stream nozzle better as it shoots 4 streams of water and cleans better. I have very sensitive gums and I usually use toothpaste for sensitive gums and I did not have any problems with this power flosser at all at its lowest strength. One thing that surprised me is the amount of water that splashed everywhere when I first used it with my mouth open, you have to close your mouth when doing so if you don't want water splashing everywhere. After a while your mouth will fill up with water of course and then you can spit it out. At least I had to do that otherwise I would have water everywhere in my bathroom. I did notice it did clean my teeth, specially in between and also the gum area, its like flossing, but with water. Of course you still have to brush your teeth so I use the device once a day (at night actually) after brushing, before going to bed. I guess you can consider it a personal device, but I looked around and saw that replacement nozzles are very cheap so I plan to buy and extra pair of the quad stream ones so my partner can use them at night too, we would just switch nozzles after each use. I highly recommend it as flossing is as important as brushing your teeth and this is a great replacement for floss.
