    iO Series 8

Posted by John Reid on 22nd Jun 2024

This is a unique electric toothbrush with a variety of setting including daily clean, gum care, sensitive, whitening, etc. You download an app for your phone and use it while brushing your teeth. Somehow your app knows (through a Bluetooth connection) what section of your teeth you are brushing and tells you when you've brushed that section enough. It usually takes me 2.5 minutes to get everything clean. I quite enjoy using this toothbrush.

    Dentist clean!

Posted by Jonathan Small on 16th Jun 2024

Toothbrushes have come a long way in a very short time. Once you open the box, the contents are very straight forward. You get the toothbrush itself, three heads, a plug in charger, and a carrying case. The setup is extremely simple. When you power it on for the first time, you are prompted to choose a user language, a color for the RGB light, then you attach one of the heads, and off you go. You can pair your toothbrush to your phone via an app if you want. (I skipped this step) The toothbrush is quite intuitive. Once you start brushing, the light will change color depending on how well you're brushing your teeth. Once you're done, it rates your brushing. It's quite an interesting interface. Cleaning is very simple. I ran the toothbrush while it was on under running water, and that's it. I placed the brush back on top of the charging base, and that was that. Once I was done brushing, I seriously felt like I had just left the dentist's office. My teeth felt very clean. Oral-B's engineers and designers did a really great job. This toothbrush is a bit pricey, but in this case, you really do get what you pay for, and that's a great thing!

    Great Toothbrush

Posted by Jeffrey Johnston on 15th Jun 2024

This is a great toothbrush. Definitely leaves you with that clean teeth feeling. I really like the app that you can use with the toothbrush and that the brush itself has a screen on it. Very cool.

Easy to use, nice disign, the battery lasts quite a long time, even though it was much longer with the older brush.

    Sexy, smart toothbrush for adults.

Posted by Emily Richardson on 11th Jun 2024

The Oral-B iO8 is by far the fanciest smart toothbrush I've ever used or seen. In fact, it's the only smart toothbrush I've used, as I've had electric sonic toothbrushes for years, but never one that connected to my phone with an app. It comes at a hefty price point, but considering the costs of dental care it's not a bad trade off for upgrading your daily oral care routine. Plus you can even change the rechargeable battery! However, as great as this toothbrush is, if you have a small mouth or trouble opening wide, this might not be the ideal one for you. Let's get into the details. FUNCTION The iO8 reminds me of the toothbrush dentists use with the round spinning brush head. It's thorough and efficient with a really vigorous brushing action in the + mode cycles (I love that each cycle has an extra strength + mode). It can be used with or without the app, but why spend the money for a smart brush without using all it's features? I honestly thought it was a bit silly having an app connected toothbrush, but I've come to really enjoy tracking my brushing patterns and getting closer to the dental goal I set in it. In the app you can choose between 6 different brushing cycles, track your brushing patterns and time, set oral care goals, and can even have it automatically reorder brush heads when it's time for a replacement. If you forget to keep your phone with you while you're brushing, no worries, the brush saves the data and updates automatically the next time you connect. If you brush too hard it'll let you know, and it has an optional pulse that goes off every 30 seconds signifying when to move to a new section. DESIGN By far the coolest looking toothbrush I've had. The body is about the size of most major electric toothbrushes, but it has a cool, colorful screen built in that smiles when you turn it on. The shape is sleek, with a magnetic charger that holds the brush in place surprisingly well and the screen greets you with the battery charge level and a smiley face when you turn it on. The screen is bright, and the fit and finish of the entire unit is superb. The only gripe I have is that the replaceable brush head has a thicker stem than I'm used to so it feels a bit cumbersome, like a finger in my mouth. My previous electric toothbrush had a thinner stem that was much more comfortable, but I have a smaller mouth so this is likely a personal issue. After about a week of usage, it's gotten a lot more comfortable though not as much as my old one. I'm sticking with it though, because it feels like it does a better job cleaning. VALUE Yeah, it's not cheap. In the box, the iO8 comes with a hard travel case, 3 brush heads, a charger, and the brush body. It's enough to keep going for almost a whole year before needing refills. One feature that stands out to me is that the rechargeable battery seems to be user replaceable, so you won't have to trash the entire unit when the battery goes bad. That'll save some cash in the long run, not to mention a better clean and hopefully less dental visits and procedures.

    Toothbrush Bling that Rocks!

Posted by Eric Bruce on 9th Jun 2024

What does real toothbrush bling look like?! It looks like the Oral B IO! This toothbrush really is impressive. From the quality build to the app to track/monitor your brushing habits...everything really is top-notch. Truth be told, I could really do without the color screen and additional brushing modes. That being said, the Oral B Series 7 is probably the best deal in the series. Either way...still an amazing toothbrush that cleans well and looks great! If you have the money to spend, it’s a great buy!

    Make Brushing Fun

Posted by Thomas Graves on 27th May 2024

A smart toothbrush? Yep, it’s here. This will connect to your smartphone and inform your brushing habits and patterns. There are various settings and it features lights that will inform you of over overpressure and when to move to the next section of your teeth. It really is an intuitive toothbrush and one to make brushing something to look forward to

A Toothbrush You Didn't Know You Needed

Posted by Bruce Chapman on 26th May 2024

I’m in love with this brush. PROS The packaging, and brush color is beautiful. It comes with 6 brush settings. The only setting this model is missing compared to the iO-9 is the tongue cleaning mode. I have used Oral-B manual toothbrushes for years. Upon using this for the second time I immediately ditched my old one. I realized I wasn’t going back. I average between 3 to 4 minutes of brushing, but I have never felt my teeth as clean as I have since using this electric toothbrush. It could have something to do with the brush heads design, as it’s round, compared to my manual toothbrushes. Honestly, I’ve always thought of these electric toothbrushes as a gimmick. I’ve never used one more than a week or two before switching back, due to the lack of the “clean feeling“ and how uncomfortable it felt while using. The last time I used one may have been 10 years ago. But I’ve never used a round brush head and the smart features included with the app makes this a much more pleasurable and informative experience. The app is a great feature I didn’t think I needed. I didn’t believe I would get much from it. Surprisingly, the app does a great job detailing personal information, such as length of time, pressure of brush, tooth tracking, cleaning modes, auto-refills, daily coaching, daily personalized goals, etc. There are a ton more helpful personalized features to the app. It was also super easy and fast to set up my toothbrush without any connectivity issues. I have set goals and have been able to keep up with them and find places where I can improve. The app has a diagram of teeth that interacts as you brush. Even though the toothbrush also delivers the same info by using colors or smileys on the small screen, it’s unable to show details like the app. I love the handle design it’s not too bulky or heavyweight but it feel sturdy and allows me to have a good grip. CONS: I do wish or hope that Oral-B has a recycling program for their brush-heads, cases and handles. That’s a lot of plastic that will be thrown away in landfills and oceans and I’m not content with that. On the box it indicates that the box and inserts are disposable. It also references where to call to recycle the battery, but no literature on recycling the brush in its entirety. Also, for the price of this particular device the travel case should have had the ability to charge the brush during travel or storage. I feel like it was such a missed opportunity for a brush in this price range. The iO-9 has this feature. I keep my brush on the charger and so with every use it’s 100%, but when I’m done brushing it’s already at 90%. So I’m using that data to guess that we lose 10% per brush session. I haven’t had it long enough to test how many days I can get on a single charge. But if you’re traveling make sure to bring your charger. CONCLUSION If you’re in the market for a new toothbrush and have the extra funds to spend on this. I say grab this one and give it a go.
