    Convenient adapter without the cables

Posted by John Krause on 19th Jun 2024

The WA-2 is a wireless replacement for running a potentially lengthy RCA cable between your sub and the AVR. Of important note is that this ONLY works with Klipsch subwoofers with the appropriate port - this will not let you run any old sub wirelessly. In terms of the setup, its as easy as you would expect - plug in one adapter to the sub-pre out on the AVR and the other adapter to the sub and switch it on!. The adapters automatically pair over wireless, and so assuming you're not already running a heavy amount of RF noise and interference there should be no additional setup. The cables at both ends are a little short - easily replaced at the RCA end into the AVR, but you'll have to get creative about the shorter flylead that plug into the back of the sub. 99% of the time you wouldnt be able to tell its wireless, but occasionally there is a minor rumble or 'tap' from the sub which I think is the wireless signal going in and out. This thing really does what it says on the box, and is an easy setup - but I'd suggest it only if you have a real physical problem running a single RCA cable. Considering you're already paying for a premium quality sub, its likely to be worth your while to invest in some quality cables too. I received this item for evaluation at no charge, but my opinions expressed here are my own and are are based on having installed and tested the product in my environment and setup.

    Wireless Kit

Posted by Jessica Ellis on 10th Jun 2024

Most people, especially audiophiles, will always prefer to connect their home theater equipment by physical cable. However, there are instances where having both options may prove beneficial, such as having the ability to move your subwoofer around. Thus, enter the WA-2 Wireless Kit, an optional accessory that will allow you to add wireless capability to select subwoofer models from Klipsch, Energy, Mirage, and Jamo that have a WA-2 port. Given this, I was excited to try out the WA-2 adapter to see how easy it would be to setup on my Klipsch R-115SW! In the box, you will note two pieces: a transmitter that connects to your receiver and the wireless receiver that connects to the back of the subwoofer. Also included is a standard RCA cable as well as the power adapter. Additionally, the power adapter required you to clip on the prongs that fit into the wall. As for setup, everything was easy and straightforward. On the transmitter, I used the white RCA plug to connect it to my subwoofer out jack on the back of my Pioneer Elite VSX-L303. Next, I connected the matching white end to the corresponding jack on the transmitter. Lastly, on the front of the transmitter, you will note the gain switch that will add or lower the bass output in 12 dB increments. Please note that by default, the gain switch should be set 0 gain (middle position) when you first setup the adapter! Moving on to the wireless receiver, you will note the WA-2 cable that plugs into the back of your subwoofer. There is also a pair button on the front that will allow you to pair the device if it fails to connect automatically. Furthermore, on the back of my R-115SW, there are protruding screws that are designed to lock with the grooves on the back of the adapter, easily storing the adapter on the back of the subwoofer. Overall, I do not think anyone will have an issue, as I was up and running in a few minutes. Once I powered everything on, the LED lights flashed green a couple of times and then stopped once it paired automatically with the transmitter. As for sound quality, the WA-2 wireless receiver performed as it should. At first, the bass was a little hard to hear, even with the volume knob maxed out. However, once I flipped the gain switch to +12 db, the bass was felt immediately. I was able to get the room to shake and vibrate as I had with a physical cable. However, be sure to dial back your volume knob on the subwoofer before you flip the gain switch! The gain adds an extreme amount of bass and is extremely loud! Furthermore, I could not detect any lags or skips in the sound as both movies and music rattled my room. Overall, the experience was excellent! In conclusion, the WA-2 Wireless Kit is an ideal solution! The adapter was easy to install and the bass was loud and ever present as it was before. I was extremely impressed even though I still prefer a wired connection! In addition, I am confident that if you need, or would just like to have a wireless option available to your subwoofer, the Klipsch Wireless WA-2 Kit will surely impress you. Overall, the Klipsch WA-2 Wireless Kit comes recommended!

    Wow sounds the same!

I was really expecting to lose a lot of my bass when I hook this up, but surprisingly the speaker sounds exactly the same as it did when we had it wired! This is great because I wanted to put the bass box in a separate part of the room to enhance my all around sound and this helps me do that.

    Works exactly as expected

Posted by Donald Singh on 7th May 2024

I set this up to avoid having to run a wire for my subwoofer. It worked exactly as the manual indicates - so pay close attention to the parts about interference (I had a wi-fi router nearby) and cabling. Once I realized my errors, it was smooth sailing. I'm going to try to move the subwoofer further away (it was close enough from my cable run) and that will be the real test.

    Great Wireless Kit

Posted by Roberto Lopez MD on 23rd Apr 2024

This WA-2 Wireless Subwoofer kit from Klipsch gives you much more flexibility in how you want to position your subwoofers. The further you place your subwoofer away from your receiver, the higher the chance of electromagnetic interference will occur. With this wireless kit, the chance of EMI is greatly reduced at long distances. The setup for this kit was extradordinally simple. All I had to do was plug in my RCA cable into the transmitter, and then plug the receiver into the back of my Klipsch R-115SW subwoofer and it was ready to go. One nice thing about having this wireless kit is that you can boost or lower the volume of your subwoofer via the transmitter if you so choose. Overall, this is a very nice kit for those looking to go wireless with their subwoofers. You can avoid the hassle of long cables going to your receiver or to your outlets.

    Place the sub anywhere!

Posted by Kristen Stewart on 21st Apr 2024

The Klipsch WA-2 is a fantastic product. Setup is easy. You simply plug the receiver into the “WA” port on the Klipsch sub and slide it onto the provided mounting lugs, plug the transmitter into the subwoofer out/LFE port of your receiver, plug in the transmitter power cord, and power up the subwoofer. The two boxes pair immediately, and you’re off to the races. If they don’t pair, the instructions say to simply hold the buttons on each box for 5 seconds until both LEDs stop flashing. Mine paired right out of the box, so I didn’t have to do this. The sub sounds exactly the same as when connected using a high quality RCA cable, but you have the flexibility of being able to place the sub anywhere in the room that 110 volt power is available. This allows you to position the sub wherever it fits or sounds best without running wires through walls, ceilings, or floors. NOTE: THIS UNIT ONLY WORKS WITH SUBWOOFERS EQUIPPED WITH A “WA” PORT.
