It is attractive and works fine but...

Posted by Dr. Rickey Green on 22nd Jun 2024

We had a Thermador built-in for 18 years and it was awesome. This is fine, but it just seems to be made a bit more cheaply. The Start button is difficult to push in and can snap out pinching your finger. We also miss the "Quick Minute" feature. I am sure it will be fine. That being said, the Pac Sales representative was terrific. Quite knowledgeable and guided us to the company that makes custom trim kits for built-in replacements. That company did an excellent job,

    Beautiful stainless steel microwave

Posted by Dale Walker on 9th Jun 2024

This microwave looks great and matches with my other Kitchenaid stainless steel products, however I have lived in my house for 15 years and this is my 4th microwave! I unfortunately have to stick with this model because it is the only one that Kitchenaid makes that will fit in the built out space and I prefer not to have mixed brand appliances in my kitchen. I usually don't write reviews but when the microwave we just received started malfunctioning right out the box, I felt it was needed. In the past it has been replaced due to various workmanship issues, rust and condensation inside of glass door, the inside of the microwave started to peel and bubble, the door opening latch stopped opening the door, one started making a load noise as if it were going to blow up, and one just stopped working. As a side note we had another brand microwave brought with us from our other home that we kept in the laundry room and used as well, it just died after 15 years of normal use. The issue with the current microwave is the push to open door latch sticking and not opening the door, we have to grab the door and assist it open! As I said this problem started right out of the box, and we've had it a month I just haven't had the time to call yet another warranty microwave "repair" person. I love my other Kitchenaid appliances but am truly fed up with this model!!

    Pricey Counter Microwave

Posted by Larry Nelson on 7th Jun 2024

Bought this microwave to replace an existing kitchenaid that was built in that died after 10 yrs or so. Had to match existing appliances in my house to appease my wife. Works fine and is large.

Powerful Microwave Hampered by Poor Door latch

Posted by William Hood on 25th May 2024

This is a powerful microwave, cooking most foods in half the time of older units. Has all the standard features. Two problems... 1) The wave guide cover eventually sparks, signaling that there is metal present. Where the cover accumulates the small metal deposits is a mystery. Certainly not from anything I insert in the oven. Easy enough to remove the wave guide cover and scrape away the metal deposits. I can see buying a replacement if problem #2 doesn't occur first. 2) The door latch begins sticking in the closed position, worse by the week, until one has to use a fork to pry the door open while pushing in the door release button. Kitchenaid does not repair Microwaves, but simply replaces them under warranty instead. Mine has been replaced twice in 17 months, making the current one my third unit. Waiting for the door latch to go bad on this one.
