    Great large external monitor

Posted by Robert Kelley on 27th Jun 2024

This came with everything I needed to be able to start using immediately: the monitor, quick setup guide, HDMI cable, of course the power cord. The instructions come with clear pictures and in different languages. I was able to set it up within few minutes from removing it from the box. As suggested, I also install the HP Display Center on the laptop. That brought up many more options in using the monitor and partitioning, I did not need to use it so not sure how well they work. This monitor is slim, lightweight and the perfect size to meet my needs. With the HDMI cable connected, it recognized my laptop immediately. There is also a VGA port available that I did not use. I tried using the monintor as the extended and duplicate screens and both worked very well. The pictures are as sharp and clear as my laptop is. This monitor can tilt forward slightly to make it easier to use. There is no delay when I use this monitor as was a slight delay with another one I replaced with this new HP one. It’s also convenient that when I shut off my laptop, the monitor turns off as well and when I sign into my laptop the monitor comes back on and the screen is exactly as I left it the night before. This is a great basic large monitor. I need to get a 2nd monitor and though I like everything about this one, I’m hoping to get one with all the same great benefit but that includes, a USB port, that has adjustable height and possibly a speaker. This one doesn’t offer these additional features. But my laptop speaker works great so it’s not a problem. But the adjustable height, I’m noticing would have been very helpful. So that’s a must for my 2nd screen.

Nice monitor that can be a little blurry

Posted by Theresa White on 20th Jun 2024

Assembly was very easy and took about 5 minutes; including unpacking the box. It does include an HDMI cable. Minimal connections on the back of the monitor. There is a cable holder inside the monitor stand which makes it easy to keep the cables organized. The power cord is a little short so I had to adjust its position on my desk. The size is very nice. And it also has a tilt feature. Unfortunately, the monitor cannot be raised or lowered, just tilted. Maximum resolution is 1920 x 1080 @ 100 Hz. Low blue light technology helps minimize the blue light and is easier on your eyes. The anti-glare is appreciated. I normally wear computer glasses but this monitor really helps reduce eye fatigue. I will still wear my glasses since they work very well. The 100Hz refresh rate is very good. If you are a serious gamer, you will need a much higher refresh rate. The monitor also has onscreen controls. This monitor is nice but sometimes can be a little blurry. I was experimenting with zooming in and out and maximizing vs. minimizing. It actually seemed blurry when more minimized, but not in all situations. I tested with spreadsheets, photos, surfing the internet and a little gaming. It wasn’t consistently blurry in any situation and about 10% of the time. My husband agreed it was blurry occasionally. This is a decent less expensive monitor. I even hooked it up to my laptop to watch a movie and that worked fine. Colors were vivid. A little different than another HP monitor that doesn’t have the low blue light technology. You wouldn’t notice if you didn’t have them side by side.

    I can't really think of anything I don't like

Posted by Kimberly Davis on 15th Jun 2024

After using this monitor for about a week, I have to say that there's not really much I don't like about this monitor. Like, it could be better if the stand allowed for the monitor to swivel and rotate, but even that feels a bit nitpicky since the panel is the size of a small TV. The screen size is really nice for my primary monitor. Text is large without adjusting the scaling, and I can read small text in games without straining my eyes. It's also nice for programming and word processing. The framerate is decent (the monitor goes up to 100Hz), the color is good as well. I also like how it's able to be controlled by the HP Display Manager program over the HDMI cable - I can switch the display to Night Mode or change the brightness with a click rather than fiddling with the buttons on the monitor. Speaking of which, I am glad that the buttons are separate rather than combined into some weird button plus D-pad thing. One of the other things that I really like about this monitor is that it's very versatile. It's a "standard" resolution of 1920 by 1080 rather than 1920 by 1200, which is good for compatibility with some older games. It also comes with a VGA port and two HDMI ports, which is incredibly nice since I tend to have multiple computer systems to keep tabs on but lack the space for a bunch of monitors everywhere. Aesthetically, the monitor is nice as well. I like the power light being white rather than an annoyingly bright blue, and the sleep light being orange rather than blinking is also nice. I'm actually really fond of the stand - the way that it's a sort of ring looks nice, and I've been using it to do things like keep batteries from rolling away. The fact that it's got a cable channel on the back to pull all the cables together in one spot is also nice, since it avoids the problem of wire spaghetti. I'm also a fan of the thin bottom bezel not wrapping around the whole monitor. Overall, it's a really good monitor, and I rather like it. It's versatile and nice to look at, and I really appreciate the night mode. I'd definitely recommend it, as long as you have the desk space.

Terrific Big Screen Monitor for Work!

Posted by Todd Reid on 15th Jun 2024

Having a high quality monitor is very important to those who work on their computer all hours of the day. You want a mix of form and function, and the new HP Series 5 32 inch monitor has been great for those purposes! PROS: - Unboxing I really liked the look of this monitor immediately. It has a smooth look to it, stylish, and very minimalistic which is a big benefit! The setup for this is minimal as you just need to connect it to its base and then of course plug it in. - The bezel-less look of the monitor was a great appeal! It makes the monitor feel more immersive. - I also noticed quickly the smoothness of it as the 100hz refresh rate really does give it an extra pop. - Another piece I think people will like is the low blue light being "eye safe certified" because when you stare at a screen for hours on end, you really need that added eye safety and this HP monitor hits on that! - It comes with plenty of cables as well since it has 2 HDMI hookups as well as a VGA hookup. CONS: - I would have loved some premium features like HDR or 4K on this. BOTTOM LINE: - The new HP Series 5 monitor in 32 inch is an excellent monitor for those who use a monitor all day long for work! It looks great, the screen is very crisp with a great image, but it has built in safety features to make sure your eyes do not hurt. This is a great buy and happy to use it!

Large, High Quality FHD Resolution HP Display

Posted by Cindy Cabrera on 12th Jun 2024

The HP Series 5 532sf 31.5" FHD VA LED Monitor, which is incredibly slim and lightweight (though it's a little wider down the bottom where the connections are), has impressive video quality (notable on streaming video) and delivers a better video-watching experience than my higher resolution (WQHD) monitor. Part of the reason is that it's a bigger screen, though it's mostly because of the contrast and black levels. It also features an easy-to-assemble stand that can tilt to your preference quite a bit. I had read that VA LED displays tend to be both higher quality (when viewed directly from the front) and lower quality (when viewed from an angle), but from what I could tell in the room I’m in with this monitor, I'm getting high-quality views from most viewing angles (unless I went far to the side and looked at the screen). If you do software development or anything where you need to fit a lot of text on the screen, you may want to keep an alternate higher-resolution display available - but for me, this will work well as a second display (using a USB-C to HDMI connector I purchased at Best Buy). For example, I'll use it for things like watching videos or having a 2nd screen during online meetings. I found it helpful to keep one FHD screen like this connected and accessible for when I do remote meetings and want to share a screen. Whenever I share my WQHD screen (my other monitor), people in the meeting can complain that everything looks "too small to read" on their end, so this screen size/resolution (if I share the screen) should help reduce meeting complaints (tested this in a meeting, and yes it’s true). Set up as a second display, I am also now able to share a screen and view video of the attendee(s) at the same time with this setup. As per if I recommend it, it depends on your needs. Normally, I would recommend having at least one higher-resolution display for people like me who do a lot of coding (wanting to fit more in less space). However, for video, for people who need larger screens (vision issues, like me who wears prescription eyeglasses), or for people who want to maybe enjoy streaming videos or video games, I would recommend this HP monitor. I am writing this review on two different HP monitor models, so obviously I can recommend the brand because I use them for displays, computers, and printers.

    Upgrade monio

Posted by Julie Garcia on 20th May 2024

The set up was easy and quick. I was working in no time with a much needed upgrade from my previous monitor. The response rate and the graphics are just what I needed to make work less stressful.

    HP Monitor for MAC

Works well. I would order it again. MAC Hook up can be a little challenging changing the font size.
