Radar didnt alert-got a ticket - Escort wont pay

Posted by Stephen Mason on 27th May 2024

Wow, I really don't know how to frame this review. I didn't want to give this only one star because I have to believe it's better than that. But from my personal experience, that's the best I can give. I'll first start with what I like: - solid hardware. The radar seems well built, feels sturdy, and looks good. - decent software but kinda buggy. I downloaded Escort Live and was able to connect bluetooth and do most things but could not connect to wifi to do firmware upgrade. I decided to try Drive Smarter app in which I was able to connect via BT and wifi. So I ended up doing the firmware upgrade using Drive Smarter app (which took forever). In any case, weird how you can connect to wifi using one app - Drive Smarter - but could not connect with Escort Live, which was what the bar code in the quick set up manual led to. Fail 1. So here is where it all falls apart. I was driving in Arizona on highway 10 and bam! Got a ticket! (see photo upload) I get it, it's laser and usually it's too late once you've been tagged. But what was really disappointing was that the laser alert didn't go off at all even though I configured it to alert me on laser. Now I'm always second guessing if this thing is working properly or not. Products like these, you don't want to be second guessing. Fail 2. So Escort says that they will pay for your ticket if you get a ticket while using the radar. Ok, sounds great. I went online and submitted my ticket and uploaded everything they asked. But...it only applies if you buy it directly from Escort's website and not Best Buy. (see my photo upload). So in the end, I got it ticket, the device never alerted me, and Escort won't pay for your ticket if you buy at Best Buy. Maybe it's time to return this thing and get a Uniden. Or maybe I should drive speed limit...nah!!

    Incredible range

Posted by Amber Perkins on 22nd May 2024

First, let’s get this out-of-the-way, it is expensive. Now that that is done, there are many many reasons to like this. It has the best range of any radar detector I’ve used. The suction cup magnet mount is super strong. It made it on a three day trip over the mountains in a 1978 truck. It didn’t come off the windshield and the magnet didn’t release from the unit. It is also nice that use the same software as my cobra camera. One thing the note is over the first few days driving locally, get ready to have your finger over the mute and silence button until it learns what are just radar signs or automatic door openers in your area. The directional arrows are easy to read. The unit is easy to operate, and it does mute itself after the initial warning.

Expensive but worth it if it fits your needs.

I bave been running an old 9500ix for over a decade. I now travel to big cities a lot and it would deive me insane with the false alerts. I played around with uniden R8 and the redline 360c. The redline 360c is probably the most quiet detector on the market when it comes to false alerts. It does fall behind the r8 in terms of lighting fast response. The decision to get this detector for me was based on 2 factors. The first was being quiet as I grew tired of false alerts. The second, my day to day drive is wide open flat roads with no bends so the slight decrease in lightning fast response isnt much of a factor. Also side note the redline when mounted with a blend mount looks drastically more aesthetically pleasing. This detector fits my needs, I encourage everyone to do some research and grab what fits theirs.

    Great radar detector

Posted by Karen Villanueva on 10th May 2024

It’s pricey, but works really well! If price is not an issue, this is a must. If I do have a complaint, it’s the app. The app uses so much of my phone battery even while connected. It’s useful and accurate, just constantly draining. Hoping that future updates to the app will solve this challenge.

    Good Performance, Overpriced, and "All-In-One"

Posted by Jonathan Allen Jr. on 9th May 2024

I'm just going to give my honest non-biased experience I've had with this item so far. In my experience, I was able to drive between Houston & Dallas (Round trip) averaging 90mph thanks to this overpriced all-in-one radar detector. It picked up police radar as far as 1 mile on average away, and some occassions 2 miles. Escort Live app is okay, but if you have in-car wifi, or an android phone, you can tether to your wifi hotspot(s) and get the same alerts from other escort users in the area with out the app. I've only owned this product for about two weeks before I was able to try it out on a road trip, and I'm very pleased with the results. City performance will vary from person to person when you factor in terrain, sensitivity settings, etc, but in my experience it has been a very quiet detector even with Highway Mode on in the city, and it has picked up everyone who has been running radar. Keep in mind not every patrol vehicle is actively running radar. You will get the occasional false alerts from some things such as automatic door openers, and very few vehicle technologies such as blind spot monitoring. Overall, its a very quiet radar, and as for the "All-In-One" I keep referencing, well it has standard radar detector features, it has GPS which is used for automatic lockouts for spots such as parking lots, it has wifi, bluetooth, and is undetectable to RDD's (Radar Detector Detectors). For what it's worth, I have been using the escort Max 360C since January 2020, and I have not gotten a single ticket driving an average 10-20 mph over the limit from that time all the way to the present day of this review. There are several other good options as far as radar detectors for $200-$300 cheaper than this unit, so it is important you understand you are being charged for the additional features as well as the brand name. (Escort brand is like the Apple of radar detectors). Vortex Radar is an excellent source to look up if you want a very in-dept detailed video review of this product. Again overall, I'm very pleased with this purchase, and I do recommend it if the price is not a deal breaker for you.

    Best detector hands down.

Posted by Melanie Jones on 28th Apr 2024

Let me start off by saying that before I bought this radar detector I did my research for months. I decided to go with the redline 360c. It is by far the best radar detector on the market. It has extreme long range. It picked up on a speed trap on a county busy road that was roughly 5 miles in front of us. It rarely has false alerts and it will lock out the same alerts that are not law enforcement on its own after driving by it enough times. I will say that this detector is only really great if you pay the 50.00 a year to escort to use their drive smart app along with the detector to really maximize its potential which I found out and is worth it but not needed to use this detector day to day. The app that escort has is awesome for adjusting all the settings on this detector and trust me there are a lot of settings that need to be adjusted to maximize this detector. There are some great videos out there of how to set it up depending on where you live and the types of bands used by law enforcement and placement which does really matter. I know it’s not cheap but it’s worth it. I have no regrets on buying this redline. At the end of the day of this detector saves you from one speeding ticket it has paid for itself. In my case I do tend to drive a bit fast from time to time and it has saved me twice in the last two months.
