Features
Diamond Dome Tweeter Prized in highly specialised industrial applications, the unique properties of diamond make for a near-perfect tweeter material. Our diamond domes are grown like crystals in super-heated furnaces under laboratory conditions before being cut to produce our tweeter domes.
Solid Body Tweeter Precisely milled from a single billet of aluminum to better resist resonance, the improved tweeter enclosure features an elongated form with a longer tube-loading system. You'll experience more open high frequencies from the diamond tweeter.
Continuum Cone Continnum is a woven composite that blends control with flexibility. The result is breathtaking clarity. Hear voices, guitars and bass instruments with precision and transparency.
Reverse Wrap Cabinet The front and sides of the cabinet are formed in one continuous curve, held together with a spine of solid aluminium. The curved front means less baffling around the drive units so you'll enjoy greater dispersion and less cabinet reflection for a more holographic sound.
Aluminium top-plate The all-new aluminium top section significantly upgrades the mechanical stiffness of the cabinet for reduced resonance and greater clarity.
Matrix Bracing Interlocking solid plywood panels with aluminium bracing reinforce loudspeaker cabinet walls at key stress points. This reduces cabinet resonances so you can enjoy all of the fine midrange and bass details in your music and movies.
Leather by Connolly The top of the speaker features an aluminium top-plate, covered in all-new Leather by Connolly trim. We use luxurious, full-grain black leather for Gloss Black and Satin Rosenut finishes, and a light grey leather for White and Satin Walnut.
Flowport Reduces air turbulence for clearer bass.

They are great
I wouldn’t say they are worlds better than the 805 d3 possibly 10 to 13% better. They are very similar in many ways but also different physically Reaser bigger than the past generation my only problem with the speakers is I feel they don’t justify the $8000 asking price and that’s not even counting the investment of the speakers stands from bowers and Wilkins?. I feel that the 805 D3 is a great alternative if you’re looking to be in the 800 series but at a lower price. If you’re going into the 800 series and you want their best bookshelf and current generation this would be it otherwise the 805 d3 is a good viable option

I have to recant
I have to recant my previous ratings in comparison with the D3 805. Both series are great but the D4 is a big step forward in its lows and improvements in the high frequencies. They are not harsh to me and with all tge improvements made to tge D4 series its a noticeable step forward. For my needs they are great for a small to medium large room. Have them set up with tge proper gear and placement and they will reward you with an amazing listening experience highly recommended 5 stars

Very good but
I own the 805 D3 and have auditioned the 805 D4. It's not a night and day difference. l'd say it's a 10-13 percent improvement in aspects of the sonic character. If you're coming from the D2 generation or before I'd say there is a 40 60 percent improvement. That would be worth it. Consider the $8500 price and $1250 stands. Almost mandatory because you'll want to bolt these down for such an investment. My opinion if you're coming from a D3 it's not enough to justify the price of the improvement. Id also consider the durability of thw leather as well.
