Almost to good to be true
Purchased for gaming outside of home, as is a laptop, had charged full battery before traveling. Played for 20 min and battery came down to 15% percent from 100% Cant really play unless your plugged in to the wall so if your looking to game just know you need to be plugged in. Also the computer gets extremely hot, almost to hot to touch. Other than that graphics and performance are super good. Just wish they would have increase battery size and better cooling capabilities.

It's a powerhouse, but it isn't perfect.
This is a great laptop. It can definitely handle most use cases. The gaming performance is great, rendering is fast, works great with VR, and it has been able to handle everything I have thrown at it for work. Unfortunately, it isn't perfect. So far, I have had connectivity issues with the ports (specifically the Type-C and DisplayPort), there is rare flickering when plugged into external displays, and the battery life is quite limited. In my case, it is close to perfect, but if you need something with a long battery life and you can't plug it in, you might want to look elsewhere.

Fast and powerful machine!
I got this machine a week ago and I use this machine primarily for architectural plans and 3d presentations and performs amazingly fast. I raytraced the renderings below in 4 seconds each. The screen resolution is awesome and can handle anything I throw at it with my CAD programs, I am not a gamer so can not comment on that. Battery life is not the greatest and when rendering it guzzles like a Ferrari and has to be plugged in but no biggie.

Top Dollar = Top Quality
I bought this 2 weeks ago and saw another review, so this is a rebuttal to Kevin B's review. This is a portable desktop replacement, of course you need to keep it plugged in. A 14900k and a mobile 4090 (equivalent to a desktop 3090/4070ti) drains the battery as they require a lot of power. The battery is more or less a placeholder. If you don't keep it plugged in, it will lower the performance as well. But from my perspective, this laptop is the ultimate beast. I am writing this on my final returnable date, and I decided to keep mine. The mini LED screen is extremely bright and color accurate that makes it a worthy upgrade over last year's model. When it comes to build quality, the chassis has 0 flex anywhere- feels like a brick. The laptop was also a lot lighter than the pictures make it seem- take this from someone who uses a Macbook Air to do daily tasks. Gaming feels very similar to a desktop setup because of the big screen, if you can tolerate the mushy keyboard. I was thinking of getting the cheaper 4080, but the 4090 will make it more future proof as it has more VRAM.

Horrible stay away , thermals are horrific
Was looking for the new MSI Titan 18HX but best buy didnt have it . So bought the Scar 18 2024 4090 . Reviews state its a better value than the new Titan . While performnace is good , thermals are just horrible , ran 3D mark and it shut down due to CPU total package reaching well over 100 , the keyboard are gets so hot to a point its like melting . Also the build quality is cheap compared to the titan . Lastly sustained Total package isnt as advertised. CPU cant sustain more than 65 watts on full load . If your on a budget I understand but if you have the money save it and buy the Titan 18HX you wont regret it .

Doesn’t get any better than this.
I want to address a review someone else wrote because I think this is their first time owning a gaming laptop as their cons can be said for any high end gaming laptop, not just this one specifically. Their two complaints were battery life and the temps. First, they said they wish it had an increased battery size because they got poor battery life when unplugged and playing games. This model comes with a 90whr battery and the highest you are allowed on a plane legally is 99.9whr. They can’t increase it in a way that would make a significant difference. The other thing is that this is something that can be said of all med - high end gaming laptops. You will not be able to play unplugged for more than 2-3 hours maybe less depending on the game, and you wouldn’t want to. Playing unplugged means you will not even get the full performance as it requires a lot of power to get the maximum performance out of it. The other thing is that this thing also has to power an 18inch mini-LED display with eye searing brightness. So, no, battery life will not be great while unplugged but again the same can be said for most gaming laptops, this is not news to anyone that’s owned one. Second, they said it got extremely hot and wished cooling performance was better. Again, this is not new in the world of gaming laptops especially ones that have this kind of power. In my experience this laptop actually does an amazing job at keeping itself cool and pushing out a lot of heat. I have not seen the GPU go past 70c. This is one of the best laptops in terms of cooling performance and it shows. The reason I wanted to address their review is because I didn’t want it to sway anyone for cons that again can be said for the majority of gaming laptops currently being sold. This laptop is phenomenal in my opinion. You get an immersive 18in display with a mini-LED display that has enough dimming zones to give you near OLED level contrast while also giving you eye searing brightness that you do not get with OLED. You get amazing cooling performance and amazing overall system performance that rivals some desktop PC’s. The laptop is made of good quality plastic which I like because it helps keep the weight down for an already large machine with heft to it. It’s also easy to upgrade the storage adding another 2TB SSD and upgrading the RAM to 64GB. I have no complaints and highly recommend it regardless of the price as this is basically as good as it gets in my opinion. The only thing I can really say is a con for me is the gamer aesthetic and that’s as a hardcore gamer. It’s a little much but it doesn’t bother me enough to disregard every other thing I love about it.

Blows the MSI Titan away.
Previously had an MSI GT77 Titan which I returned due to multiple unacceptable QC issues (dead RGB, GPU fan clicking, etc.). Got this bad boy instead, and it's insane. Upgraded the RAM to 64gb Kingston Fury, but other than that totally stock and can handle all my stuff. The screen is absolutely wild, blindingly bright, I was worried about "downgrading" from the 4K of the Titan, but there's no way anyone can tell the difference with the slightly lower resolution, and the fact that this panel is brighter, has g-sync, has over double the dimming zones, and double the refresh rate is so much of a better tradeoff. This, in my opinion, is the best laptop for gaming that money can buy right now.

Awesome laptop
This laptop is excellent. The screen is great with no back bleed and can play almost anything at ultra settings. I did have an issue with my steel series arctic nova pro not connecting to the usb with the dock and I was unable to use the headset because I couldn’t figure out windows 11. I would recommend a cooling pad because the cpu will get up to the 80s without it. I bought a $100 fan on Amazon and could only bring it down to 75 on the cpu. The gpu isn’t an issue
