A really great card that I wish was a bit cheaper

Posted by Jacqueline Pollard on 26th May 2024

Chances are if you're reading this you're very aware of the controversy surrounding this card. I reluctantly took the plunge because my RTX 2070 Super was showing it's age, and as outrageously priced as this was, it was the highest performing card I could buy. Was it worth it? I'm still undecided BUT I'm cautiously enjoying my time with it. If it'd been priced just a little bit lower, I'd have said it was an easy yes. The ugly truth is though, with taxes, this basically costs a grand. And when you drop that much cash on a GPU, you can't help but feel a bit disappointed when 4k is still a struggle. Yeah sure, it's a beast of a 1440p card. No doubt about that. I have no grievances there. If that's what you're after, it'll serve you well. Fortnite maxed out with raytracing and DLSS enabled usually hovers around 90 frames. Cyberpunk 2077 with pathtracing enabled got me around 75 frames thanks to Frame Generation (though I must admit the input latency while using it is somewhat noticeable). The Last of Us runs smooth as butter now too thanks to recent patches. I guess the issue is, it feels like I'm just barely getting by pushing max settings. And maybe that's just the nature of hardware. Say what you will about The Last of Us port, but the VRAM on this card really is cutting it close. If I try to push 4K, it begins to stutter like crazy on that game. Sure, the developers could've optimized the VRAM usage better, but at some point you just gotta accept most studios don't care about that stuff. And so this will likely be the case with future PC titles moving forward. I don't know... just that lack of headroom really bothers me. It makes me worried about what performance will look like 2 years from now. You might think well maybe the RTX 4080 will save you. Not really though. Yeah the extra VRAM is nice, but the performance is not all that better, especially for the extra hundreds of dollars it costs. It's ludicrous and just a case of diminishing returns at that point. Overall, unless you're going for the RTX 4090, the 4070 Ti is the most sensible purchase as of now, as sad as that is. Even though AMD cards have more VRAM, they lack the raw performance of the 4000 series, especially when it comes to raytracing. So you have to ask yourself, do you want a top tier 1440p card right now OR can you wait an extra year or so for something a bit more future proof at the same price? For instance, the upcoming RTX 5000 series will probably blow these away, but that's a year or so down the line. Pros: Outstanding 1440p performance DLSS 3 means it'll probably max anything you throw at it over the next 3 years Runs cool and quiet The best card you can buy under $1000 Cons: 4k still leaves a lot to be desired on post-2019 games 12GB VRAM is cutting it close due to the poor quality of PC ports as of late The best card you can buy under $1000 (yes that is also a con)

Good bye PS5 30 fps graphics mode

Posted by April Gutierrez on 1st May 2024

Review sites already told you what you need to know however i got this because I'm sick and tired of the underperforming PS5 forcing to choose graphics @30 fps or performance mode. I wanted both and this will do nicely with my 4k 60hz 42" tv. Got Asus because of the 2 hdmi outs which isn't on all other brands.

4070 TI is an absolute Beast thank you Best Buy!

Posted by Samuel Torres Jr. on 27th Apr 2024

Absolutely Amazed by the performance of this graphics card! Best Buy is my go-to for my PC gaming accessories and components, if you have any trepidation about purchasing a 4070 TI don't! This thing is a beast I am running Call of Duty war zone at over 215 frames in every game mode. My 3080 would barely crack 130 FPS. I highly recommend

    Works great

Posted by Haley Collier on 26th Apr 2024

Bought this about for months ago. Works great. Dont like the fact that you have to download armory crate to get the rgb to work but works and thats all i care about. Super fast talking like 165 fps on starfield. Thats as fast as my monitor will push. I love it glad i bought it way better then my 2080 super.

    Go Mean Green

Posted by Donald Wright on 24th Apr 2024

I upgraded from a 2070 to this 4070ti and running it with a 9700k on an LG C2 42inch. I wanted a new gpu that supported HDMI 2.1 so that I could play at 4k120hz. I also didn’t want to get a larger card because I only have a 650W PSU. This card truly lives up to the hype that the YouTubers and redditors have created with their hate. Im getting better performance in 4K than I did at 1440p with my 2070. Why anyone would choose to go AMD this gen is beyond me. This card has a superior feature set including DLSS3, frame gen, video upscaling and more. You will probably look up reviews of these features and find endless videos and posts of people saying they’re horrible. (They’re not) Wait one (1) year for AMD to (finally) release similar features and overnight you will notice everyone loves frame gen and video upscaling. Sure the 7900xt is 10% faster in 4K, but getting 77 frames instead of 70 while pulling 350W and reaching 110C is not a good thing. To provide a recent benchmark, I am able to run Hogwarts Legacy with maxed settings in 4K and get 120fps. I’ve never seen this card pull more than 280W so the 750W recommendation is a bit high. The only thing I don’t like is the ASUS software. Armory Crate which is needed to control the RGB lights fails installation every time so I guess I’m stuck with rainbow.

    Great card no complaints

Posted by Thomas Pineda on 22nd Apr 2024

I upgraded from a 1070 as you could imagine this is a big increase I upgraded all my other parts first before making the biggest purchase of my life for a computer part and I can say I am not disappointed one bit, it's a quiet card it fits perfectly in my case and just gives me the performance I want I can easily reach fps up to 200+ also capped because my monitor refresh rate is 200hz if you're looking to buy a card and don't want to spend 2 grand on a 3090 or 4090 this is the route you should go 10/10 recommended.
